An incredibly well-done rogue-lite title that is difficult yet doesn’t feel like it’s totally beating you up and taking your lunch money.
The reason I call it a rogue-lite is because of a few features in the game that affect your stats:
– Leveling up; this allows you to assign points towards Health, Damage, Attack Rate and Movement Speed. These upgrades count towards all future runs. This is only really counted for the earlier stages when you’re in the normal difficulties and you’re making your full run through the game.
– Pins; these also change your stats in some way, except it can effect things like Spell Damage, Cooldown Reduction, Gold Find, Slow On Hit, Increasing the amount of relics you can carry to start off with, etc.
– Gold; the gold you accumulate throughout your runs is not lost when you die, and is used to upgrade your pins, purchase Blessings, and even throughout the run, you’re able to spend the gold to buy relics and items.
These features does not mean it’s a bad title (in fact, even though it’s not purely rogue-like, these features add a huge sense of replayability without having you start from scratch every single time). The game itself is extraordinaryily perfect. At the time of writing, the game will be releasing in the next few days, and it’s gone through very good Alpha and Beta stages. It can be very easily compared with Binding of Isaac, in both gameplay and variety of content, which is extremely impressive. The game presents a fairly difficult experience, but it doesn’t feel like the game is being unfair. The game, at its core, is just downright enjoyable to play.
